The Origin of Bluestone (Other Producers/Posters may share)

I was asked the following question on the 'Feeling Guilty?' thread:
Mkkb wrote:Hi Blue,
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I would love to hear about what you went through to get yourself to this point.

I think people would, indeed, be interested in how I became a producer, and I think others should share their stories too on this subject.

Well, when I found G-Man's predecessor site 'Fatal Females' and became aware of this community, being a writer, my first contribution (after lurking for a long time) was a story which was published on his then new Femmegore site. I needed a pen name. When I started writing in my youth, I had toyed with the pen name 'Bluestone'. My first story was entitled, "Drop Dead, Gorgeous!". So, I used the initials of that first story, and became DDG Bluestone. Thus, I became a participating part of this fine community... sharing my thoughts with other like-minded people. I posted more stories to FG after that initial one, but, that didn't seem to satisfy my need to contribute... give back to the community that helped me to realize that I was not a freak, just a person with an unusual fantasy interest. I wanted to put up a site that was similar to FG... imitation being the sincerest form of flattery. I got a free Angelfire website and invited G-Man to review my initial postings. He told it like it was. It was a very derivative site. He challenged me to make my own contribution to our community. So, I kept that in mind. In time, there was a discussion on the FG board about the Silk Stalkings TV show, and how many sexy death scenes were featured in that series. So, I researched the series, and found a website that gave episode summaries as well as a website where I could purchase copies of these shows (which site is now sadly defunct). This was well prior to their relatively recent release on DVD, when tapes of these episodes were very scarce. I had to scour the episodes for the death scenes, getting input from viewers of the series through the FG board. I made clips of several female death scenes, wrote reviews, and offered them for sale as "The Silk Stakings Review" just so that I could break even on the project. I made enough from sales of Volume 1 to purchase more episodes, and eventually produced 5 volumes on CD.

Now, kiddies, I don't want to bore you... So, is anybody interested in hearing the rest of the story, or have I shared enough? :)

Keep going, Blue. I'm really curious as to how you recruited Suzi and Jessica and got your earlier videos made.

Okay Max and Gang, I will continue with the Bluestone Origin story...

The second influence in my necro career was Cash of CashTV. Cash had gone into friendly competition with G-Man, and had enjoyed my FG stories and my Silk Stalkings Review. So, he offered me a mini-site at CashTV to use as I so pleased. I posted new stories, including touched-up photos and even a poser storyboard. I also began posting my Silk Stalkings Review there, and edited some of my own movie reviews. Cash had his own PPV site and was ordering customs featuring Alex and other hot models. It was at CashTV that I decided to order my own Silk Stalkings style custom video, but it had to be something special. I made arrangments with Cash to share the profits if he hosted the video. Then, I contacted Dlister at AF. As G-Man had instilled in me, if I was going to contribute to this community, I had best do more than what everyone else was doing. So, I wrote a script that had an actual storyline and set dialogue (a rarity at that time), I made sure the actress was dressed seductively but in a classy fashion a la Silk Stalkings, and I chose the hottest actress in the genre... Petra!!! The result was what is now Episode 1 of the 'Silk 'N Blood' series... "Slain in Silk". When CashTV's PPV was discontinued, and his whole site eventually archived, I launched my own site and featured "Slain In Silk" as the first offering.

What about Suzi's involvement? Well, as a result of "Slain", I was contacted by a customer who wanted a custom. I explained to him that I didn't produce myself; however, we started to communicate and I agreed to try to negotiate a custom for him through AF or another producer. Well, that wasn't working out since he didn't like any of the AF models including Petra (believe it or not). Instead, he located two models on-line and asked my opinion. There was a blonde and a brunette. I didn't recognize the blonde from Wave (and in fact didn't make the connection until after we'd met), but she was HOT! So, I recommended that he order his custom from her. The result was a poorer version of "The Intruder". The customer put me in touch with Suzi by email, and I explained to her the deficiencies in the filming. Her cameraman's equipment was also a regular videocam, not a professional model. She agreed to re-shoot the substandard portions with her cameraman. In compensation for my assistance, my customer gave me the rights to use "The Intruder" on my fledgling site. Since she was re-shooting the initial video anyway, I ordered "Late Date" from her personally. In order to ensure that the videos were edited properly, I had Suzi send me the original footage, and I edited both "The Intruder" and "Late Date". I now had 3 videos to offer on my site!

So, do you want me to continue with this necro autobiography, or am I boring you? :)

You have the right to remain silent.
If you give up that right, anything you say may be held against you in a court of your peers.
Or it may be used to help you get a polished gold chair to sit in while you edit your movies. :D

Yes, please continue.

Okay, here goes, but I probably should have my lawyer present

Having seen what could be produced using a regular videocam with the proper subject, and taking into account that I'm an artist as well as a writer, I figured that I could shoot videos myself. So, I invested $4,000 in a professional video camera. You heard right... 4 G's. What I do for you guys :D My initial plan was to write and film a TV pilot along the lines of Silk Stalkings. That is still my ultimate plan, but I had to first break even on my equipment investment. I figured that I had more than recovered my initial investment in the Petra custom, and the two Suzi customs were free. If I could get a few more out there, I figured that 20 videos would pay for the camera. Then, I could work on the pilot. So, I went seaching for a suitable actress.

I first approached a beautiful girl who was a bartender at a local watering hole, Ali-Kat (Not her real name, of course). She had told me before that she had done some acting, and wanted to do more. She reviewed the script that I had written and agreed to film with me. We eventually filmed, but for various reasons the shoot kept getting delayed. I was anxious to use my new... and expensive... camera, so I contacted a model who I found on the web... a beautiful young blonde by the name of Jessica. Without her, Bluestone Video Productions would probably have never gotten off the ground.

Jessica arrived at the shoot alone; although, I expected an escort. So, there I was alone in a discreet shooting location with this beauty... just her, me and my camera... but Jess is a real sweetie and we got along well. Of course, I had to play the killer as well as the cameraman and director. Notwithstanding, we shot 4 videos that day. I was surprised when she asked at the end of the shoot whether I wanted to shoot with her again. Duh! I quickly confirmed another shoot, and then another. Three shoots in three months garnered me 12 videos.

I parlayed my first few edited videos into more by trading videos with Dlister at AF. That's how I was able to acquire rights to four more Petra videos. Notwithstanding that I traded my videos for these 4, for reasons unknown to me, Dlister never posted my videos on AF. Perhaps he didn't really need them at that point, but Big John has since posted some of my videos on AF.

Next: My first meeting with Suzi (Stay tuned)

Well, I continued to communicate with Suzi, and ordered "Caught In The Crossfire" from her in conjunction with the original custom customer, "The Killing Game" for TG, and "Blood Money" which was my tribute to an episode of Silk Stalkings. Suzi's cameraman shot them, and I edited them.

By this time, Suzi and I had exchanged hundreds of emails. My original customer was not completely happy with the camerawork on "Caught". So, I proposed to Suzi that I travel to the east coast and shoot the next video myself. Well, Suzi was 99% sure that it would be okay, but I later found out that she almost cancelled at the last minute. You can imagine her concern. Here was a complete stranger who wanted to film her dying for the enjoyment of himself and other like-minded individuals. You see, when Suzi shot with Wave, she thought they were just shooting low budget horror films. I was up front with her. So, she now knew that these videos were erotic death fetish movies. She told me that she needed a bodyguard to be present during filming. I told her to get someone who could act. She selected Dean Paul who she worked with at Wave.

Well, I packed up my $4,000 camera, racked up airfare and hotel reservations on my credit card, withdrew enough funds to pay Suzi for 3 days of shooting, and off I went... literally on a wing and a prayer (a prayer that she wouldn't cancel). Well, she didn't, and she, Dean and I bonded quite quickly. She realized that I had my fetish completely under control, and treated her with the utmost respect. Shooting with Suzi and Dean, both experienced actors, allowed me to upgrade to more complex scripts. Suzi's incredible looks drew fans to my site. My formula of beautiful women, dressed in sexy but classy attire, in well-scripted films, became a reality. Over two years later, and seven personal shoots with Suzi, she is now totally comfortable with me, and we have shot alone together many times... with no bodyguard required. Suzi is a gem!

Next: Other Lovely Ladies and Petra!

Glad you like it! :D

The purpose of this thread is to share from a producer's perspective, and I hope other producers contribute, either on this thread, or on a new thread!

In the meantime, I shall continue my tale...

Over the years, I've had some challenges with losing ebillers, running out of space and bandwidth on my shared servers, and other various problems. I've always tried to meet them and come back stronger! I've invested a lot of time and money into this business, and I'm determined to make a go of it... but I digress...

Suzi was now a solid star at Silk Videos. Jessica's original dozen videos have not all been posted even to date. Why? Well, because I started to shoot much more than I could ever edit and post right now. Jessica wanted to take a break from filming, so I went looking for more talent, and some actresses contacted me. As a result, I managed to expand my cast both in Canada and the U.S. I shot with Meredith... once again alone with me playing the killer. She's now a solid cast member. I shot with Charlene who brought along a friend/actor/bodyguard, but we soon became good friends too, and I cast her in the 'Kat' series. Velvet and Kerie followed. I didn't need or want too many actresses, because I wanted to maintain Bluestone's high standards. Not any girl would do. They had to be special, and I was lucky to find a cast of beautiful people who are also very nice people in real life. I was told by many people that models and actresses are mostly bitches and prima donnas. That has not been my experience. I love these people. They are the best!!!

Now, I had shared with Suzi that my ultimate desire was to film with Petra. She was very supportive of this... not jealous in the least... a rarity in the entertainment industry for sure. I ordered more Petra customs from Dlister, but they were never shot. He had other concerns, and soon sold AF. I tried to contact Petra directly through her website as well as through studios that offered photosessions with her. I got no response, which was expected, since I was completely unknown to them at that point. Well, I told Suzi that I had given up on my dream. Then, the sh*t hit the fan, and AF took a major blow! I contacted Big John and we put a plan together. If Petra would consent to shoot with me, I would provide some of the videos to AF. In effect, we would be producing Petra videos in cooperation with one another in order to benefit both sites... and I would finally get to meet the woman who had been my inspiration since I first viewed her in "Meanwhile in Gangland" many years ago. I have shared with many of you that our meeting was incredible. I was certain that I'd have to downgrade her from goddess to human, but I was not disappointed in the least. Petra is an absolute doll, and still a goddess in my book :D

Well, that is how I became a producer in this crazy industry, and what probably sets me apart from many producers is that I didn't expand to the point of hiring people to do the edits, operate the website, and film the videos... I still do it all... it would not be fun otherwise!

Before I forget, I'd like to recognize Dlister and Big John for their support. They understand that there should only be friendly competition in a close community such as ours, and that producers should help one another. I'd also like to recognize Dr. Don, who gave me the benefit of his years of experience in pioneering f/x in this field. Thanks to all those who supported this little business of mine. Cheers!

So, to those who want to become a producer... a few words of advice:

1. Have a vision that differs from what's already out there, and remain true to it;

2. Take chances. Nothing ventured, nothing gained;

3. Don't treat something that you love as a business only. Have fun with it!

4. Surround your self with the best people that you can.

So long for now :D

Blue,

Thanks for sharing all of that. I wish I'd known what you were shooting for back when you started making your own videos.

I've been really impressed with the models you've used, the stories you've developed and the way you have avoided drifting into the porn venue.

Really cool stuff.

Thanks, Max!

Yes, I have avoided porn for various reasons. I was always impressed with Dlister's classy depiction of fantasy death scenes at AF. Well, at least I thought they were classy. Sure, he'd do decaps and such, and his models would more often that not be naked when they were killed, but he never crossed the line into porn, and I admired him for that, and decided to emulate that fine balance between sexy, sometimes nude, babe deaths and porn. I guess I'm just not turned on by cheap sex and cheap women... give me a classy, silk-draped woman every time

Great idea to share this with us Blue... and a great insight into what you had to go through and what your vision has always been. I can understand all the work involved in creating these videos. I am hoping to create some myself, but to start, may not get too involved in plot lines. Also, I cannot justify the expense of a camera like yours right now. I intend to create just for myself and a few friends I have in this community, and of course, if you are interested, I could send you something as well. I am hoping it will not be too far into the future. Thanks again for sharing.
