I’ve got clips from four new titles ready to post, and am going to try playing a bit of catch-up for the month in honor of the site’s 16th anniversary. I just finished the write-up for the first one. I’ll post the next one tonight.

New for the week ending October 10 is a clip from the following:

Strangling: Heroes: Reborn S01E02: "Odessa"

My write-ups are the most time-consuming part of every clip update, but I believe they add value to the site, and a pinch of originality to the content. The hardest part is making them informative and entertaining. I hope you enjoy them as well.

This update brings us current for the month. I’m going to continue my efforts to maintain regular weekly updates. I’ve got a long list of visitor requests I want to fill, and it’s getting longer.

New for the week ending October 17 is a clip from the following:

Strangling: Final Girls, The

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

New this week is a clip from the following:

Strangling: Mr. Robot S01E07: “wh1ter0se.m4v” (Visitor Request)

And because no Halloween is complete without a bevy of beautiful naked babes in peril, the following title has been upgraded to 720 HD WMV. I was quite pleasantly surprised to find it on Amazon.com while browsing their Prime Video Library looking for old titles to re-edit, last night. I edited the original MPEGs in 2006, and didn’t know it was available in HD:

Drowning: Zombie Lake

In other news, during the last few weeks, I’ve noticed an increasing level of annoyance the white-on-white color scheme was causing when I work on and visit the site, especially when my desk lamp is the only source of light in the room. I imagine many of you might feel the same, so I came up with something more subdued and less likely to cause eyestrain.

Posting Delay

First, I'd like to apologize for the lack of updates last month. Between watching the DRM drama unfold on the DAZ 3D forums, reading about Poser 11's lukewarm welcome, and anxiously awaiting my third paid custom video in three years, I wasn't in the mood to post anything.

New Clips

Ok, break's over. New for December 5, and this week, are clips from the following:

Drowning: Diamonds Are Forever
Hanging: Pernicious

Borrowed Time

I use Fraps to record scenes from DVDs, Blu-Ray, and streaming media. The last version was released in 2013. I use Pinnacle Studio to edit Fraps videos. Corel just released Pinnacle Studio 19. It does not support Fraps video files. I’ve been told Corel has ended support for the Fraps video format. Unfortunately, that means my video editing hobby, and my clip site, are on borrowed time.

Fraps is the only program I’ve found that can record footage from DVDs and Blu-Ray discs during playback under Windows 7. It does not work with any disc player I’ve tried with Windows 10, and I refuse to copy discs onto my computer.

Security updates for Windows 7 will discontinue on January 14, 2020. My ownership of Cinemasphyxia.com expires in November, 2018. If I haven't found easy-to-use alternatives for both Fraps and Pinnacle Studio by January, 2018, I'm going to discontinue updates, let the domain expire, and shut the site down. Until then, I will keep using Fraps with Pinnacle Studio 18 and Windows 7.

THanks for the updates and also info, Nyghtfall.

Err, I notice that on your Diamonds are Forever you don't know who the actress is - it's the lovely Lana Wood, younger sister to Natalie (I think).
Also apparently a longer drowning scene was filmed which shows Wink & Kidd tying her to the concrete block and throwing her into the pool, but it ended up on the cutting room floor and apparently no longer exists, which is a great pity :(

New Clips

I’ll do the write-ups for this week’s update in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, I wanted to post them now, before it got much later in the week.

New this week are clips from the following:

Strangling: A Kiss and a Promise

3D Art

Since the future of my video editing hobby is a rather sizable question mark, I’m continuing my 3D art hobby. I’m still upset with DAZ 3D wanting to add DRM to future content, but I need something to do with my time, and the medium has long proven an irresistible challenge in creating original art.

You can view my current work-in-progress here.

Clip Upgrades

I haven't edited anything new, but I have upgraded the following titles to 720 HD WMV:

Drowning: Constantine (2005)
Hanging: Swordfish

Site Updates

I have a musical background in Classical Guitar. I’m about to start a new chapter in my life, by learning how to play the Violin. It’s been a prominent part of so much great music throughout history, that I would love to be able to play, and I was recently inspired to start learning. I found a Violin shop in my area that hand-makes their own, specializes in teaching it, and offers a rent-to-own program. The rental fees count as credit toward the purchase of the instrument, so I can rent to own while learning to play. Suffice it to say, I am extremely excited about my future as a violinist, and the wonderfully challenging experience it will no doubt be.

With that in mind, I’m switching back to monthly updates effective immediately, and discontinuing my clip upgrade project.

Shutdown

In light of the update above, and the circumstances I wrote about last month, the site’s future is no longer in question. I’m going to discontinue updates on January 1, 2018, and shut the site down when the domain expires on November 15, 2018.

No, but I found the DVD on Amazon for $10. It'll be here in a few days.

The author behind the WordPress theme I’ve used since last August kept making changes to it that I didn't like, so I found a better one. I love the new one so much that I bought the Premium version, giving me access to all of its plugins. Frankly, I think the site looks gorgeous in white, and a helluva lot classier.

Two weeks ago, I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro, and am completely in love. I’ve also successfully tested my video capture and editing software with it.

I recently edited six new clips from three different titles. Here’s one of them:

Suffocation: Sense8 S01E06: "Demons" (Visitor Request)

Work on my new 3D art site is not going well - I'm spoiled by deviantART's ease of use - so I’m thinking of expanding the purpose of Cinemasphyxia to showcase my art for people who don't have a deviantART account and would rather not sign up for one.

Video Format

In an effort to make the site more mobile-friendly, I’ve decided to give MP4 another try. I’m going to use H.264 encoding to produce clips in 720 HD.

New Clip

Thanks to Amazon.com Prime Video, I finally nabbed a copy of a scene from Season 3 of The Americans that I received several requests for when it first aired last year.

Strangling: Americans, The S03E01 and 02: "EST Men" and "Baggage"

Color Scheme

Two years after switching to WordPress, I’ve finally created a color scheme that truly compliments the site’s purpose, looks really elegant, and is still easy on the eyes. I hope you like it, too.
