Hi Folks,
I put together a "How To" below for members who maybe interested in recording clips from YouTube videos using the VLC Media Player with "Windows".
First if you do not have a VLC on your computer, its free and you can down load it here...
https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
O.K. one downloads the basic player it should look something like this... NEXT one needs to add function buttons so to do what want it to do
(here is what my player looks like with added function buttons) I added the "Record" "AB" & "Photo" buttons To add these Function Buttons... Click on "Tools" Then in the Drop Down Menu click on "Customize Interface" You now opened the "Toolbars Editor"
Here is where you can add or subtract buttons...
LINE#2 is where you want to put them.
If you noticed Line 2 is the same as my button arrangement
To add or subtract buttons use the function button listing/selector... see arrows below
This is a easy DRAG & DROP process to select and move function buttons.
So just put your click-arrow over the function you want and drag it up to "LINE 2"
Then just click "Close" when done.
NEXT HOW TO LOAD & RECORD CLIPS
First find a YouTube video (like sample below)
Then "Copy the video URL" (see arrow) And then "Paste it" in your VCL player...
To do this... Click "Media" Then click "Open Network Stream" in drop-down box. Then "PASTE" URL address in address box. Then click "Play" NOTE : NOTE: NOTE: !!!
Once you click "Play"
It may take up to 3 minutes to start.
Also when loading you will see YELLOW BAR bouncing back & forth (this is normal)
while the video is loading... Again loading time may take up to 3 minutes.
ALSO, ALSO for what ever reason... about 10% of videos will not load. Once it is finished... video will open (usually at beginning) it will work like any typical player.
If you want to record part or all movie... just click on RED RECORD button and
then click on it again when you want it to stop.
Videos should wind up in your Videos or My Videos file.
Also stills can be done by using the "Camera" button icon.
Stills will go where you tell them to go.
This is done by... in VCL Player click on tools and then "Preferences" at bottom of drop-down box.
(In there you decide what type of photo and what file.)
Hope this helps, G [/i][/color]
