I am so sad to hear that Jim McQuade has left us. He's been one of my icons in this community since before many of you were born. Sure, I had been collecting men's adventure mags, detective 'zines, pulp novels and comics since the late 1960's, but the McQuade material I purchased reinforced that there really were others who shared my specific interests in female peril and death. He shared his predilections proudly, and gave the rest of our community -- what it was in those days -- a feeling that our desires were not as isolated as we feared. I will miss him.

I have a great deal of McQuade's output in my collection, both hard-copy and online. However, it seems Ilhuydd has much, much more -- including most of what I have acquired over the years. I dearly would like to add to his mammoth contribution on this thread, but fear I will be duplicating what he has already posted. I am in his debt for sharing so much of McQuade's artwork, and wonder if I have much to add. I have posted a few samples, but am unsure if other material has not already been made available by Ilhuydd or others.

That said, I'll assume at this stage, that duplicate posts will be okay. After all, can we ever have too much of McQuade's work? Also, some reproductions may be better quality than others. Personally, I have re-scanned titles which I had only seen in poor quality on the 'net in hopes that they would supplant prior efforts.

With all that in mind, here are three McQuade pieces which I hope will either be new or better quality than what is currently available online. These are recent scans from hardcopy material, so I am not just reposting previously available art...
First off, for those old enough to remember the Barbi Twins...

I'm not sure about this short sequence. I think it is missing the final pages... but here is what I have of it.

Finally, An Undertaker's Treasure has long been available online, but like the Doomed Courier story which accompanied it in the original hard-copy magazine, it was available only in a very poorly scanned render which was all but unreadable. I have digitized this short McQuade tale in a much sharper version.

These are three McQuade stories I have not seen online, or if so, in very poor shape. Others I am not so sure about. These include Shower Kill, Bikini's Babes and Bullets, Blonde Bounty, Death Scenes 1 and 2, and a truckload of single panels, many of which are already in Ilhuydd's posts, but some of which are not. Let me know if you want me to scan these for you, at the risk of duplicating much of what is already available,

Hey Fritz: Duplicate posts are ALWAYS welcome! Nobody should hesitate to upload anything they might feel is relevant. As you said, there's no such thing as too much McQuade material!

Of the stories you mentioned, Here are some links for those who might have missed them earllier.

"Shower Kill" ("Naomi Knifed")

Finally, for those who might be interested in some of the literary accompaniments to McQuade's artwork, here's a link to the various Llhuydd Misty text stories that "inspired" many of his drawings. I have also posted this link in the "Pulped Fiction" section.

I was being somewhat flippant. Not everyone is a McQuade fan, and a thread that is as long as this one should probably discourage duplication so as not to become a heap of redundant posts (that often annoy readers). Since you are the sole owner (aside from the McQuade estate I suppose) of most of his legacy, this thread is quite clean for such a popular topic. You've done a good job creating a virtual art gallery of the master's work, and like a real-world gallery, not many people would want to see the same exhibits over and over.

Thanks. It saves me the trouble of going over 17 pages of material and possibly scanning pages which have already been well represented. I do have one more thing that may be of interest -- a pile of individual drawings, some of which may not have been in any of your collections. Of course there will also be a lot of dupes. Sorry I don't have the time to weed them out, so if you think digitizing this lot into one final sketchbook is a bad idea, let me know. Otherwise, I'll assume it's okay, and it appears we will have covered most of what is available from our collections and those of other McQuade fans like G-Man.

I totally get the importance of not cluttering up the thread with duplicate images. That's why I only post a low resolution example of the actual files on Mediafire and Fritz does that also. I hope that helps to keep the congestion to a minimum.

On the other hand, I would hate for someone who has a prized McQuade scan to hesitate to upload it just because they're afraid it might have been posted already.

Regarding Fritz's "truckload of single panels", I would encourage him to give us a peek, if it's not too much trouble. I certainly don't claim to have anywhere near a complete collection of McQuade artwork. He was first and foremost a commercial artist, and his output over 50+ years must have been prodigious. I'm sure there must be a lot of material I've never seen.

Me too. This is a short sequence of four pics in order. Sorry... no nudity, and the quality is dodgy, but hey, even faded da Vincis are displayed in esteemed galleries...

YES! Many thanks for posting these. They are excellent examples of McQuade's earlier work. I believe all these Battlefield/Amazon scenes were commissioned by one particular collector back in the mid-eighties.

Your contributions inspired me to dig up a few more pages - three of them are llhuydd photoshop colorings. The Vampirella scene is all McQuade. It is a reworking of the popular Amanda Conner cover for "The Death Of Vampirella" comic.

Thanks so much for posting all these. McQuade's Battlefield/Amazon pics hit me over the head like a sledge hammer (or maybe battle axe) when I first saw them a few years ago--still all time favorites. Sad to hear of his passing, but very appreciative of your efforts to keep his work alive.

Hello again. I may have already mentioned that my filing protocols are rather unreliable. As a result, I occasionally run across previously forgotten or misplaced items. Hence this unexpected McQuade sketchbook, comprising twenty-four color pages of unrestrained erotic mayhem!
