Title: Piranha
Genre: Horror, thriller, comedy
Released: 2010
Starring: Elisabeth Shue, Jerry O'Connell, with a cameo by Richard Dreyfuss
MM rating: 8 out of 10

Piranha 3D is the remake of the original Piranha movie, and provides an hour and a half of energized, frantic, over-the-top horror entertainment. There are plenty of bikinis, tits, blood, and screams for anyone who loves this genre. There's even an extended scene of two nude hotties swimming together before.... well, you'll have to watch to see.

The plot isn't unique, as you probably guessed. An underwater tremor has released an ancient species of Piranha into Lake Victoria. Fortunately, as luck would have it, it happens at the peak of the spring break season. The movie is filled with sexy coeds in swimsuits, with many of them graciously removing their tops and more. Of course there is the required spring break wet tshirt contest at one point in the movie, but it's short lived once the piranhas arrive.

The sheriff, played by the sexy and beautiful Elisabeth Shue, does what she can to warn the wild partying teenagers, but as you can imagine, the warnings go ignored and all hell breaks loose as the piranhas attack dozens, if not hundreds, of unsuspecting hotties. Tops are lost, flesh is eaten, feelings are hurt.

I can't recall a movie with such a massive amount of victims, chaos, and blood. The closest I can describe the big finale is comparing it to the scene in Titanic right before the ship goes down where there are hundreds of people swimming for their lives. Except in this case, it's hot chicks losing their clothes, half or more eaten by a deadly fish, screaming in agony and gushing blood from the most horrific wounds you can imagine.

If you're looking for a good scare from a horror movie, or something realistic, this isn't the movie to watch. But if you enjoy horror, blood, tits, and cheezy acting that is to the point of comical, you'll love Piranha.

After searching for this movie for weeks, I finally found it at Newbury Comics. It was pretty awesome.
