DOWNLOADING VIDEOS WITH DIALUP & WI FI CONNECTIONS
Downloading videos and other large files can be difficult if not impossible with a dialup connection. It also can be a problem with broadband connections that prove to be significantly slower than advertised, or with broadband accessed through some multiple-user WI FI networks. A workable solution is the use of a download manager/accelerator. Download managers allow you to stop and then restart a download where left off, as many times as needed without corrupting the file. Downloads are automatically restarted where left off after connection breaks. Also, downloading is sped up somewhat, but don't expect miracles.
Free Download Manager is open-source freeware that is widely used and highly regarded. I would not be without it. This program looks complicated at first glance, but it really is very easy to use. Free tutorials are available for downloading flash videos from sources like U-Tube. I've also listed a free download manager for Mac, which I haven't tried. It also is available as a "pro" version which isn't free.

NOTE: A few pay sites have definite policies on how download managers can be used. If you encounter a problem, contact the site's webmaster for assistance. The Free Download Manager can easily be adjusted to meet any website's requirements.
