XP users locked out of their MediaFire files!

Post by Algenon5 »

Accessing "My Files" at MediaFire now requires the use of IE9.
XP does not support IE9, which requires the Windows 7 operating
system. Personally I will not switch from XP to 7 for two reasons.
(1) I will not put $100+ dollars into a five-year-old desktop.
(2) I personally know of two guys who "upgraded" from XP to
Windows 7, only to have it play holy hell with their computers and
their security software.

I wonder how many others are in this situation.

Try FireFox 5.0, the layout has changed on the MediaFire site but I can still access my files.
FF is free BTW and follows the 3WC (world wide web consortium) standards for interpreting html markup - unlike MicroSoft which is in its own little world - oops I mean their own universe - to them our world is an insignificant speck in the cosmos.

Sorry, I ranted there a bit. :shake:

Duh! I had a mind freeze and forgot about using Firefox. Firefox 5 undoubtedly
is the superior browser, and I use it quite often. However IE8 still is my primary
browser for a number of practical reasons too boring to explain.

Thanks.

I was able to access my files on MediaFire with IE8 on an XP pro system.
You might try clicking on the "Compatibility View" button - next to the refresh button.
It will show up if IE detects a possible issue with the display.

MediaFire has fixed the XP/IE8 glitch. XP users who cannot upgrade
to IE9 have been restored to full MediaFire access.
