Are we Porn?
Hello Everyone,
I don't think there is much question that we are a type of adult material.
But I am curious about this:
Are we porn?
I know that fans get a sexual charge out of watching thing kind of material.
It is done in part to be erotic, and much of the material is extreme.
(My gutting films would be a good example of that.)
Should we however think of ourselves as "porn" ?
I would love to know what you think.

Well, I would say what we like (and share) here is:
Definitly adult "fetish" material but not porn.

Re: Are we Porn?
What is "porn" - is a very deep well your looking into, and there are a lot of shallow minded people ( I don't think you'll find any here) with knee jerk reactions....
One persons "fetish" is another persons "porn"...
There are places, right here in the USA, where you would be in big trouble for our stuff, and in just as much trouble if you video your self and your husband "trying to make a baby".
There is a whole generation out there yet for who sexy is dirty, and extremely private, never to be seen or even talked about.
Yet there are places where most fetishes would only get a passing glance, totally accepted.
Are we porn? not to us.

Re: Are we Porn?
Hi Nightposter,
What you say is very true.
There is a certain type of women for whom I am porn just by showing up in a calf length black sheath dress.
"Oh that BITCH" they say.
One of the reasons I have absolutely no problem making erotic horror films is that I am being judged negatively and called "whore" by these kinds of women just because of things I really can't help such as my basic appearance.
My follow up question is this:
If you were getting an erotic horror product that was sponsored by the straight porn industry, but it had exactly the same content that you have always wanted to see, would it bother you that straight porn was sponsoring it??

- What is your main fetish?: My personal fetish is 'bellybutts', the idea of a woman who for her own pleasure, to sate her own lust and fetish, wants to be stabbed or shot in her belly, ideally during sex. She begs for it incessantly, encourages it to happen and then when the moment finally comes, enjoys it thoroughly and begs for more.
- Why do you want to join this forum?: My interest in this community has less to do with my personal fetish than it does professionally from a community building standpoint.

Re: Are we Porn?
It often happens when I meet new people that they will ask me, "What do you do?"
I have a number of answers depending on who's asking. Typically I'll try to skirt the question with a humorous, "As little as possible," or the like. Often that works.
When it doesn't, and the person asking I judge to likely not be a bible thumping drone, I will look then straight in the eye and tell them, "I'm a pornographer." They usually figure I'm still joking and sometimes stop there, other times (after a suitable moment of being stunned) continue to press for details. I will then describe much more precisely what I do and how I do it.
I will tell them how I manage web sites with message boards and the members of those sites post their sexual fantasies to those boards. I pick out the fantasies I think I can recreate and take a series of photos, around a hundred, depicting that fantasy. We then write a story to go along with that fantasy creating a photo comic as it were. Then I explain how in the last few years I've done less and less photo work and more video work along the same lines. Inevitably it creeps into the description that I don't do hardcore, that it is sometimes explicit nudity, but stops there.
Absolutely without fail, every single time someone has gotten that full treatment, and I've done it literally hundreds of times, they will respond at the end with a, "But that's not porn, that's erotica!"
And that's how I tell them that I create erotica. Because if I just came out and told them that I create erotica, they would automatically assume that what I create is in fact 'porn' and that I am to embarrassed by what I do to actually admit that, so I say erotica to butter it up and make it look better, or so inevitably would be their assumption, I assume. By going the route that I do, they get the full description and arrive at the conclusion themselves, that I create erotica and am not the slightest bit embarrassed by it.
And all that being said, people define things according to their own standards. There are many who would define a car advertisement as being porn if it happens to also have a pretty woman in the picture, because it associates desire, with a woman. As I described above however, most reasonable people when learning the details, come to the conclusion that what we do is erotica, not porn.

Back when I lent out uniforms, to producers, one of them was a "mainstream porn producer". He knew of my Fetish for damsels in distress in uniform, from the guy who referred me to him, so his deal was, he'd shoot an alternate ending to this "custom video", just for me, as payment for the loan of the uniforms. The video ran like this
Two cops show up to arrest a guy, they get friendly with him and then when he is defenseless (after sex) they kill him with a poisoned drink.
In my ending, after sex his goons come in, have the girls re - dress, then he terminates them by strangulation, one at a time.
This was 1999, and the tape I have has no label, at the moment my head still hurts too much to remember the name of this one time contact, but I do remember seeing the producers stuff for sale in adult magazines.

Re: Are we Porn?
People like to label things...Even some new forms of horror films like Hostel are called torture porn! To some people, our interest would be called porn...My answer would be So fucking what if it is? People get holier than thou and don't admit they watch porn, but yet it is a worldwide industry that rakes in billions...but yet nobody is watching!!!!!!!!!! I think nowadays peole label something porn if it is extreme, not necessarily showing explicit intercourse!

PS - Dalila...I would not consider your fine figure pornographic by any stretch of the imagination!

Re: Are we Porn?
First of all...
Those of you who offer compliments
Thank you
I would be a liar if I pretended that I did not want to hear them
I am a real hater of politics.
My husband watches those shows and I try to tune them out.
One phrase that catches my ear every now and then is "political pornography"
Now I, being a sexually curious person, right away picture someone like Jenna Jamison running for mayor of New York when I hear that phrase. ( After all I once had the honor of having Mayor Goodman of Las Vegas stare down my dress! He was very nice about it but he did drool!)
But no, this is not what they mean
They are talking about TV shows or radio programs that offer only one biased political view.
To me of course this is an abuse of the whole pornographic industry.
There is a beauty to porn that cannot be found on MSNBC or heard on Conservative Talk radio.
I do take some of the points you make. One man's porn is another man's art.
To me politics is neither porn nor art, but filth, pure and simple.
I also say this:
I would rather be called a porn actress than a politician.

I think it depends on whose material you look at. I wouldn't consider Dalila's material porn. To me it's art. There are other producers that push things to the extremes, and I would generally call their material pornographic.

Re: Are we Porn?
I think it is partly going to be based on the definition used, for instance:
"pornography: creative activity (writing or pictures or films etc.) of no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate sexual desire."
or
"Pornography or porn is the depiction of explicit sexual subject matter for the purpose of sexually exciting the viewer. Pornography makes no claim to artistic merit, unlike erotica which does."
By those definitions, none of us produce porn. Otherwise we would all have to shoot in our bedrooms with a consumer grade camera, clamp lights and with no attention to detail, editing, casting, etc.
It is that attention to detail that gives my content artistic merit. It is my full body of work over 14 years that give me credence. While I know what a lot of people view my content for, I still make good movies. And, on so many occaisions I cannot even count--even today, I sat in my studio with crew and actors and watched a few. Enjoyed them as movies.
Taken as a whole, I would not fit this definition at all.
There is the tendency to simply define porn as explicit content or the 3 P's....Pussy, Penis, and Penetration. By that definition--an incorrect, through by general view, the most common one, yes--yes I do.
Then again, for 11 years or so, I helped run a company called Ruemorgue and for the most part, it is quite tame compared to anything even the most basic producers are making today as far as what they show and themes used. But, off and on there were discussions just like these and yes, even tame material with no explicit sexual content was called porn based on this: is the material produced for the purposes of sexually arousing the viewer. Now, I could easily say no--of course not and so could you. But, face it. It is.
But, like so many things in this world, these movies can be both. A simple , thought-provoking solution.
Can a movie have both artistic merit and also be meant to sexually excite the viewer. I say it can. And, that's what I do.

Re: Are we Porn?
Some of producers are making pornography and some are not. Many of the the producers who are mixing pornography and the death fetish openly admit it. Their reason is that pornography sells, and they are in business to sell their videos.
Please make no mistake, I am not condeming those who think along these lines. Big O is right when he claims the porno industry makes quite a bit of money each year, and somebody must be buying these types of materials. We are all adults ,and should have a right to choose what we view as long as there is no harm brought to others.
I was a member of your Grotto, and downloaded many of your videos. I certainly wouldn't classify your videos as pornography.or for that matter of fact Blue's videos.Nudity and sexily dressed women, like yourself, are definitely not a criteria for pornography.

Re: Are we Porn?
John M, very much like Peter, is a man with many wise things to say.
A certain group is going to call our material porn no matter what we do to say it is not.
John, I too like to watch my better films as films.
I got one of the most flattering compliments from John Templar regarding my last full film, Time to say goodbye (from which the nude phot I posted of myself comes)
John Templar said:
"Dalila, the movie was so well done as a film that I actually watched it all the way through, without fast forwarding to the death scenes themselves. I even forgot that it was just you playing all of the characters. I was so wrapped up in what was going to happen next that I didn't even think abou that."
What a wonderful comment. Now clearly all of my films are not that good, but when I do a particularly good one I do like to think that I have done something with artistic value.
Here is a possible necro scene for you:
A father who works for a poweful political figure is trying to protect his daughter from being seduced by his boss. It happens nevertheless and the father plans to have his own boss killed, and have the pleasure of personally throwing his boss' body into the nearby river.
The daughter finds out about the plot, and though she knows the boss is a horrible person she is too in love with him to bear to see him get killed so she sacrifices herself to the killer instead.
She is stabbed (in our favorite places) and thrown into a sack.
The father thinks that his boss is in the sack, but just when he is about to drag the body off he hears his boss singing a dirty song about what sluts women are.
He opens the sack and to his horror find his gut stabbed daughter choking on her own blood.
She spits out a long pitiful goodbye before dying.
A great necro plot right?
Well, that is the exact plot line from the Opera Rigoletto
Just as Paul is aroused by Football, I am put in a very sexy mood by listening to Verdi Operas, especially those with great stabbings (and there are MANY!!)
So I suppose one could say that I am deriving sexual pleasure from that opera (which I am) but one would find it hard to get it classified as porn.
I did my own opera death scene for our community, "Dido's Lament" and I stab myself as deeply and bloodily as in any of my erotic horror films.
But this WILL NEVER be called porn because of the high artistic content.
Paul may get a sexual charge out of football (you and my husband have that in common) but the world will not call football porn.
So for John M I would say "If they are going to call it porn let them. What's so horrible about porn anyway."
