This topic shall serve to illustrate my "Modus Operandi" when it comes to reviewing and critiquing videos of the fantasy snuff fetish variety. The reviews shall be structured as follows:


(Each aspect will be graded on a 10-point scale, as fairly as possible. For clarity's sake, when I give a 6/10, it means passable enough that it does not stand out negatively, without doing anything but the bare minimum to be functional.)

Plot Synopsis:
Self-explanatory enough, a short outline of the "plot" forming the basis of the video, insofar as there is one. This is followed by a listing of the fetish-related elements (e.g. strangulation, necro, etc.). Naturally, no points are awarded here.

Story:
I consider it necessary for a video that ostensibly has a story to put it under scrutiny. A certain tolerance to plot holes and the like will be demonstrated, but generally, it is very much appreciated when a story possesses an internal logic it follows, thereby giving it's characters adequate motivation for their actions.

Performances:
Paragraph by paragraph, you will find in this section a critique of the performances given by the actresses (and or actors). Their performance will influence the score in this section based on how much they represent the focus and how positively (or negatively) they contribute to the viewing experience. Even if there are multiple noteworthy performers in one video, the maximum of possible points is still 10.

Death scene(s):
The beating heart of every video, the death scenes from the first reaction, to beyond the deaths themselves, in regards to what the killers might do with the bodies and how effectively the camera is used to show them in their postmortem state. Keep in mind that I try to be as unbiased as possible in that category. I don't judge on whether a method was used that I particularly like or dislike, but how well the death and everything related to it was executed.

Scenery and costumes:
How well the location fits the scenario and how sexy the costumes are. Lack of costumes (i.e. semi or full nudity) is of course not going to be judged as bad, seeing how it's just an artistic choice. Likewise, as long as the location offers no detriments to the enjoyment of the video (say for example, bad lighting that damages the view of the bodies), it will simply be scored as a 6/10 for being serviceable.

Immersion:
Something very important to keep in mind with every video, how well the immersion of the scene is upheld. If there is literally nothing immersion breaking, I will give a full 10/10 in this section, while at the same time, points are going to be docked for avoidable mistakes that just take you out of the experience (e.g. cameraman's shadow, blinking corpses, flubbed lines, bad f/x, etc.). Again, I shall attempt not to judge too harshly, unless I consider the problem to be a major one.

Final score:
Adding up all points gained by the video, the highest possible score that can be reached is 50. I use this method of measuring so that I may be able to evaluate the content specifically for people to whom the contained fetishes speak to, without my personal feelings about it getting in the way too much.

Norrin's Rating:
This very final section is meant for my personal feelings. However, instead of referring to the point system I used for the final score, I give a star rating solely based on my opinion, with the statements made before in the other sections serving as indicators of it. The lowest possible score is 1/2 star, the highest 5 stars.


This is version 1.0 of my reviewing system. I will examine how it holds up after a few applications and modify it when necessary.
