Thank you. I'm not exactly sure I want to call a lot of these vids hot per se. They are very well poduced though, and some of the most brutal films I have ever seen. They're damn near Guinea Pig level, in a good way.

Guinea pig level? I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean.
As for hotness, like most things I suppose you can say it's in
the eye of the beholder.

The Guinea Pig films. They're a series of short Japanese gore films that were popular in the late 80's-the 90's. Charlie Sheen had the second one, Flowers of Flesh and Blood, investigated because he thought it was an actual snuff film.

I heard it was mailed to him, so he didn't even know what it was. This incident happened in like 1994. But nothing surprises me with Charlie anymore.

Anyways, by comparing those Japanese superheroine films with Guinea Pig, it's a compliment. It means that they're well made for what they are, violent on a level that even most American produers avoid (sorry Blue. :( )(the Japanese aren't afraid to push the violence in pretty much anything they do. They seem to find a very artistic quality to good use of violence), and have some brutal effects. And I think that seperates them from what we do. We're looking to create sexual films with a horror quality, while they're trying to create horror films with a sexual quality. Both are equally valid, both I enjoy immensely.

They might be well made, but I had a look at some scenes from the "Flower of Flesh and Blood" on YouTube, and I don't see how he could ever have mistaken it for an actual snuff film. Much of it looks very fake. (He must have been drunk/high at the time!)

Here's how you know it's fake: the camera angles and lighting are too good. Regardless of how well done the blood and gore is, the fact that there's like no grain (except the kind you got with any 80's indy film) to it would tell you right away that it's fake. Still good though.

I own the collection of all 6 films, with bonus features. Honestly the Best Of feature is the most disturbing thing about the whole collection. The films themselves vary widely. FOFAB has the least plot, but is really unnerving (to me, to some people it's boring because the girl doesn't struggle enough). The first film features one of the most classic gore scenes of all time (syringe through the eyeball, which then gets scooped out with a spoon), but has about as much plot as FOFAB. Android of Notre Dame is pure crack. Mermaid in the Manhole has the best plot, best developed characters, and the most emotional arc. I recommend that to any horror fan looking for a new film to see. Devil Doctor Woman is....well it sucks. And I Keep Coming Back has a rather loose and emo plot (guy is tired of life and tries to commit suicide, only to descover he's immortal, and keeps inflicting increasingly worse punishments on himself to see how far this power really goes. It's Unbreakable with a My Chemical Romance edge and a Miike sense of splatter), but has some really discomforiting scenes.

It's not just the quality of the camera work. Something just looks "off" about it, especially the dismemberment. The entire thing is very stagy.

The effects do rival that of Hollywood, but I still think it is obviously fake and would require quite a naive viewer to believe it is real.

I'd like to apologize for getting us all so far off topic. I guess I can sum everything yup like this: I love both the American and Japanese style of films, but for two different reasons. The American films intentionally try to be hot and sexy with the violence there as a garnish as a very nice (and thanks to the size and success of our bigger producers, like John Marshall and Bluestone, very well done) garnish, while the Japanese films go the opposite route.

Here is a rundown of two of the three major Japanese super heroine video producers. Videos produced by the third, Gallop, aren't generally available outside of Japan. Incidentally the two websites mentioned below have remained up and running normally throughout Japan's ongoing tragedy.

JAPANESE SUPER HEROINE MOVIES & THEIR PRODUCERS

Most Japanese super heroine peril movies come in two basic flavors, each with its own standardized plot line that with minor variations is repeated in video after video. These feature-length videos can run as long as an hour and a half, but the typical runtime is about sixty-five minutes. Videoed by production teams of up to twenty people (not including the cast), almost without exception the production values are high. Many downloads come with a separate making-of video at no extra cost.

The first and most popular flavor is sex orientated (hetero or lesbian). The typical plot has a heroine being captured, and then forced to endure all sorts of sexual abuse which can be violent or bizarre, or both. If you've ever thought of it, the Japanese have videoed it from five different angles. Not to worry. The hapless heroine often ends up loving everything that is done to her.

The second flavor is less popular, but more likely to be of interest to FF members. This scenario opens with a heroine battling a gang of bad guys, or monsters, or robots. She wins this fight up until the last minute, when a dirty trick lays her low and she is carried off to the villains' lair. There, for the next forty-five minutes to an hour, she is tortured in every imaginable way. The intensity of violence varies from video to video. So does the amount of blood and gore - from none to a lot. In most but not all of these "Heroine Suppression" and "Body Blow" videos the poor girl is tortured to death, which is what the Japanese euphemistically call a "bad end."

The twin Godzillas of Japanese heroine movie production are Zen Pictures (http://www.akiba-heroine.com) and Giga Freaks (http://www.akiba-web.com). Between them they have a total of two-thousand downloadable videos in their online catalogs. A few titles are available with English subtitles that really aren't needed. After all, how do you subtitle constant screaming? Their DVDs are not sold by mail, nor to the best of my knowledge are they available outside of Japan. Their websites are a bit clunky and slow running at times. However videos from both download with reasonable speed. (see note) Visa and Master Card are the only accepted payment methods. The payment process is fast and trouble free. Download access is immediate.

Be aware that in spite of their large production teams and good production values, these studios are more than capable of producing duds that usually are the result of bad direction, or bad camerawork, or both. Go figure. And while most of the actresses I've seen are good to excellent, I've also see a couple who were unbelievably bad.

Relatively speaking, Zen Pictures is the soft-core producer with little or no blood in their videos, and I haven't come across any with fatal conclusions. For this reason I have not posted and probably will not post any Zen screen caps. They also don't seem to do any nudity which Giga does - partial and full. However, to my leering old eyes the Zen girls appear to be a little prettier. If you're into monster boobs you would probably think differently.

The really rough stuff comes from Giga Freaks. For an example go to the previous post, "Asian Screen Cap Mayhem #1." All of Giga's videos aren't this bloody, but there are more than enough gore fests available to satisfy your inner ghoul, if you have one. Giga also produces a series of heroine wrestling videos ("Heroine Battle") that are girl-on-girl, or man-on-girl, or man-and-girl-on-girl, or monster-on-girl, or every conceivable combination of the aforementioned. These usually turn into non-stop porn bouts. However, if you're into squinting at the nasty bits you will be disappointed, because there is the usual Japanese genital censorship. Finally, Giga offers a tentacle rape series ("Heroine Insult") which judging by the large number of available titles, must be a huge thing in Japan. Me it puts to sleep.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The downloads from these producers are DRM restricted wmv video files. This means they can only be viewed with Windows Media Player 11 and 12. If this is a problem for you, solutions can be found in the How-To & Tech Questions Forum post, DRM RESTRICTED VIDEO & AUDIO FILES. Also, these files are large - 700 MB to 1.6 GB. Does Zen do the Astro Girl films? If so, I find them very enjoyable. They're in English (or at least Astro Girl speaks in English), and the actress appears to have some Western blood. A real cutey that fits in for being a Japanese version of Super Girl, and a damn fine actress The movies have genuine plots to them, with the middle sections being pretty violent (though non-gore and non-fatal) beatdowns (in one she's shot multiple times with kryptonite arrows, with some fantastic pain reactions) but she always pulls through in the end to beat the bad guys. They're more for traditional S&M fans than snuff fans really, but they're really, really good.
