What Producers Do You Support, and Why?

Sometimes, I'm just full of questions. I guess I'm curious by nature, but I've noticed some dynamics on the boards, and have wondered about many subjects, so I thought I'd share my musings with you, and ask for your feedback on 'necro' producers in general. Here are my questions, and maybe you can answer them when sharing with us which producers you prefer and why, and certainly don't feel that you have to limit it to the producers who advertise here, or even to only current producers. There are some fine producers who no longer are in business, but whose productions are sorely missed in our community. So here goes...

1. Is it important to you that a producer shares our fetish?

2. Does it matter to you if they're male or female, i.e. does that perspective help to enhance their productions for you?

3. Is your particular fetish best produced by a particular producer or producers, and what do they do that really makes their work special for you?

4. Do producers comments on the open forums adversely or otherwise affect your buying habits, i.e. have you avoided buying from producers who you don't personally like while supporting producers who you have a positive feeling toward as a result of their on-line personas?

Feel free to expound upon these and other issues when contributing your thoughts to this thread, and also feel free to name names. You're entitled to your opinions here. So, for example, if you don't buy Bluestone Videos because you think I'm a pompous, egotistical has-been who films his videos as masterfully as a child's birthday party, go for it. Producers with thin skins won't last very long in this industry anyway. (By the way, did I tell you that my day job is filming kids' birthday parties?) If all producers are to improve their productions, they need consumer feedback, both positive and negative, on a regular basis. Otherwise, they can all lose touch with what the people want, as well as their own strengths and weaknesses as producers.

This is very important. Some actresses, despite being very talented, do not appeal to me at all. Others who may not be quite as talented (but adequate) are very appealing none-the-less, and I will buy their work.

not really, so long as the product has good production standards.

I think John Marshall captures most of my fetishes well. His production values are strong. His special effects are realistic. He can emphasize the sexuality of a scene even in the face of the violence. And lastly he's the only one of the major producers I know that has done pregnancy stuff (btw, I commend his actresses too for being willing to do that. I know it's a niche fetish even in our community that I have, and I understand why many actresses would be turned off by doing that).

4. Do producers comments on the open forums adversely or otherwise affect your buying habits, i.e. have you avoided buying from producers who you don't personally like while supporting producers who you have a positive feeling toward as a result of their on-line personas?

I like having that reportage.

5. How does price, customer service, and effective/ineffective advertising affect your buying habits?

I would say so to a degree.

6. How much do particular actresses affect your buying habits?

Immensely. If it's got Suzi, Petra, Raven Alexis, Britton, Kordelia Devonshire, or Asako, it's a top buy for me. In mainstream stuff if it's got Raven, Sasha Grey, or Jenna Jameson it's a must buy.

I don't generally know whether a given producer shares the fetish or is just in it for the money - I sort of assume someone who is into it will understand the appeal and create a better product, but that is just an assumption.

2. Does it matter to you if they're male or female, i.e. does that perspective help to enhance their productions for you?

Not really, although it was nice to discover there were female producers back when I was a little less secure in having this particular fetish.

3. Is your particular fetish best produced by a particular producer or producers, and what do they do that really makes their work special for you?

No one producer does it best, and I have pretty catholic tastes... what really keeps me coming back is honestly good acting and continuity. However good the scenario or attractive the ladies, if the scene is choppy and poorly edited (I can recall one otherwise great strangle scene where the girl had a magical wig that kept phasing on and off the top of her head in time to some unknown beat outside human comprehension), or if the girl is clearly standing around bored in between bouts of terrible things happening, it takes me out of the moment. A bit of emotional intensity goes a long way.

4. Do producers comments on the open forums adversely or otherwise affect your buying habits, i.e. have you avoided buying from producers who you don't personally like while supporting producers who you have a positive feeling toward as a result of their on-line personas?

It hasn't really effected me in the past, but then my experience with producers has been limited. I don't think it would be likely to overall, though.

5. How does price, customer service, and effective/ineffective advertising affect your buying habits?

Misleading advertising will make me avoid a producer in the future, as a rule. I need to be able to have some idea what I am getting before I shell out money. Ineffective advertising is just likely to result in me never seeing their product, and high prices just mean I see less of their product. I've never had any customer service issues.

6. How much do particular actresses affect your buying habits?

Quite a lot - even apart from obvious personal qualities I might be attracted to, I associated certain actresses with a higher caliber of performance and production, and I'm more likely to buy a clip that has their "trusted brand" involved.

No. I usually have no idea if they do or not. I doubt that not having our fetish is a disadvantage. Don't you think that, if one of the Bluestone babes was willing to squish crawly things, you could make a popular crush fetish video? Maybe you'd want to watch a few as research.

2. Does it matter to you if they're male or female, i.e. does that perspective help to enhance their productions for you?

Again, I generally don't know the sex of the director, cameraperson or editor. I suspect both sexes are capable of making a video I like. I liked Velvet's camerawork in Suzi's "Escort Wars" episode better than some of yours on other clips, including my customs!

3. Is your particular fetish best produced by a particular producer or producers, and what do they do that really makes their work special for you?

I only buy strangling clips. To fit in my niche, a clip needs...

--no porn
--an actress I find attractive
--a male killer
--sexy footwear for the actress that stays on
--a sexy outfit for the actress
--different camera angles, especially full body shots

That limits my choices quite a bit! Last Breath (a. k. a. Seductive Studios) has made some great customs for me recently. Then, there's you! I used to like A/C Stranglegirls before their producer got thrown in the slammer on a tax matter, even though their production values were low. I like Inshadow clips that don't have the porn elements. That's about it.

This hasn't been an issue. What producer are you thinking of, Blue? Who has an off-putting on-line persona...other than you?

5. How does price, customer service, and effective/ineffective advertising affect your buying habits?

Price matters. I'm glad I got my Suzi customs done before the Crash of '08. Good customer service is required before I'll order a second custom from a producer. It's always been at least satisfactory for me, sometimes very good, like Last Breath.

The clip description is important, and the preview pics are probably more important. I'm not just going to take their word for it if they say the actress is hot. I'll be the judge of that!

6. How much do particular actresses affect your buying habits?

To get a custom I have to REALLY like the actress. I even like it if I somehow get a feeling from little moments in her clips that the actress is a cool person, like I did with Suzi. For a regular clip, I just have to find the star attractive.

What producer are you thinking of, Blue? Who has an off-putting on-line persona...other than you?

well since I joined this board I have seen alot good stuff.
there are lots of good studios out there.

I like the fact that a woman is doing what men like to do.
I have bought 4 customs from her.
2 I have and 2 currently in the works.
she relates to her customers and don't take crap.
that's why she gets my business.

Not at all! What is important is that he or she is willing to help me fulfill my fetish fantasy!

I prefer working with women. First of all, many of the ladies act themselves, and that means that sometimes the model fees can be a bit lower. I like multi-model clips, so this does make a difference for me. Secondly, I am very particular about clothing, and a female producer may have extra clothes to help fit out a multi-model clip. Thirdly, I honestly find that women are more eager to "please" me. My nightmare is artistic male photographer who are more concerned with their artistic vision than my fetish fantasy.

3. Is your particular fetish best produced by a particular producer or producers, and what do they do that really makes their work special for you?

What I like is producers who understand that my request file is important. Some producers follow it to the letter, while some producers have their own "artistic" vision, and just ignore my requests! :-(

The previous post struck a chord talking about artistic vision. Sorry, Blue, but you said name names.

"Final Performance" and "Quarterback's Girl" are Bluestone customs that I ordered. They're both high quality videos, but, I felt that his artistic vision and my custom requests clashed. So, the videos are not as enjoyable to me as they could have been.

For example, I told Blue that I loved full body shots and had a fetish for white pumps. I even bought a pair for Suzi. In one part of "Final Performance", she's garrotted from behind while sitting in a chair. It starts with a good full body shot (see below), but, after less than ten seconds, the camera zooms in closer and never returns to a view of all of Suzi. I think that Blue really likes the closer views and figured about ten seconds of a long shot would be plenty for me. He didn't even show me her shoes very often. I think I got more of his vision of what the scene should look like than I did of the vision in my custom requests.

Contrast that with "Extra Credit", my recent custom for Last Breath (Seductive Studios). It has a similar strangling scene, and they gave me TONS of quality full body shots. If they had a different artistic vision fo the scene, they didn't let it get in the way of giving me what I asked for. The samples below point out another nice thing about this producer. You can get your custom in HD. When you love the video like I did, that's a great bonus!

I publicly apologize for not getting it right for you with respect to the shoes. I'm glad that you're happy with your Seductive Studios custom. Their actress is very hot looking!

This is what we need to hear more of on FF and on this thread... what people really think about various productions, and how they could be improved. In this case, a certain embarassed producer didn't realize the overriding importance of the shoes. This is a good example of having to put the customer's artistic vision over that of the director in each and every custom production.

Wow, chstr! You and I should talk! I love full body shots and heels!!! (But I prefer female doms!)

I have spent some much time fighting with producers about this. They just love the zoom button! It's something about film making 101, Hollywood Productions vs amateur cams, artistic vision and perfectionism and all kinds of other big words they throw around. As a result, I have several customs that I have only watched once. And one was so bad that I just fast forwarded through it and deleted it right away!

It seems to be so hard for them to understand that if I pay a lot of money for a custom, then I think my two page request file should be sacred! I'm sorry if I sound self-centered, but to me, that's the whole point a custom. MY fantasy!

I like business clothes, pantyhose and stiletto heels. And it isn't enough that I catch a glimpse of those clothes for a couple of seconds, I want to see it the whole time. I hate close-ups!

Some companies have been great. They were obviously used to dealing with all kinds of tastes, and accepted my requests to the letter.

Other times, they didn't get it quite right the first time. But they then got it on the second try, and I believe that the discussions I've had with them will help other customers in the future. Sometimes the producer just has to sum up the guts to send her hotshot camera man for a coffee break, and use a tripod while he's away. So I'm happy to recommend Seductive Studios/Last Breath, SusyFight and Chokechamber.

I also agree with you about HD. Some of the companies who are very good at listening to requests still send me low resolution stuff. That's why I'm not praising them by giving their names here.

I've ordered various customs with the Bluestone mansion and I was always happy with the final results!!!!
But I have to agree with Chstr about the HD issue: it's an investment for the (near) future, dear Blue! Espacially if you think that two stars of the mansion (Petra and Suzi) are going to retire soon...
Just imagine: you can be the one with the last fetish videos with Petra and Suzi in HD!!!
If many HD videos are too large for the Silk 'n' Blood store, the HD version can be an exclusive for the customer... A nice plus, don't you think?

I have HD ability, so I can film in HD for any customers who want an HD version of their customs.

I have Suzi looking for those white shoes. If she can find them, since Chstr just raised this issue now on this thread, I am prepared to do the following:

1. I will film a similar strangle with Suzi in the white shoes using a tripod and showing the shoes throughout the strangle;

2. I will film in 4:3 format as opposed to widescreen, because this was part of the problem. Suzi looked much smaller in widescreen with her whole body on screen;

3. I will film in HD; and

4. I will supply Chstr with a free HD copy of the video.

I will add this video to the other requests on the Suzi thread for my next Suzi shoot. Sound fair?

Wow! I'm glad I spent a few extra bucks for that Bluestone extended warranty on my customs. That sounds great!

As long as you're in customer service mode...

"Quarterback's Girl" features Suzi in my other major fetish footwear, white go-go boots. At the end, she's strangled on a bed. The best full body shot to see the boots is shown below. Unfortunately, you zoomed in from this view in about 5 seconds, never to return! If she had been centered better in the frame and you had held that shot, it would have been spectacular and custom made.

In my Last Breath (Seductive Studios) custom "Red Carpet Premiere" (it hasn't been posted yet), Daphne is strangled on a bed, and I got MANY wonderful shots where I could enjoy her fetish footwear and the killer's hands around her lovely neck at the same time! See below.

How about another generous bonus clip? I'm greedy.

If Suzi still has the boots and outfit, I will have her reprise her role and have her strangled in bed. For this one, I'll still use widescreen to get the horizontal view, use the tripod, and also film in HD. My camera has that capability, but for Internet downloads I feel it's a waste to use it. I will get you DVD's of these clips though.

Actually, all you had to do was ask, Chstr. I remember that this was a long time ago and that I worked on these productions for months afterwards to try to tweak them so that you were satisfied. You left the impression with me that we finally got the films to an acceptable post-production edit for you.

I've always been in customer service mode, but it helps if customers voice their disappointment. Nobody's perfect, but we try our best to please all of our customers.
