BSC Membership Club terminated!

Well, once again, one stupid, selfish person has ruined it for all Bluestone Superheroine Club Members.

Our special club videos have been pirated, and the terms of the membership were very clear from the start that if any of the membership content was found to be file-shared, the club would be immediately disbanded.

So, once again in yet another way, the pirates amongst us have negatively impacted our business and your enjoyment of our videos, making it likely that we will not be producing as much work in the future.

It's a sad reflection upon this community that it is plagued by such incredibly brainless, short-sighted fools!

First, Melanie Dunne was driven out of this industry by these brainless bastards. Now, the membership club is gone. What will be next? Probably, the loss of your best producers.

The current membership package has been removed and will no longer be available.

It's not that simple. It's an issue every in the superheroine genre, and most producers outside of it, come across. If there was a simple "technological" fix, it'd be done already by at least one of them. The convenience of the internet as a delivery method is a blessing and a curse, because the product can just as easily be reuploaded. Some complicated DRM systems are out there, like What GIGA uses (or used to use, haven't bought a video from them in years). Their DRM prevented the video from being played on any PC other than the one that purchased the video. But naturally, there were problems with that. What if a person bought a new PC? Then their entire collection from that producer is unplayable. Not to mention people who would like to play files on a TV through some sort of media player. Bottom line, it's just not that easy to prevent piracy. Every time an upload site gets taken down, another one pops up in it's place.

I've personally never understood why a person, like on of the members, who legitimately bought a copy, would upload it to a pirating site. What's the motivation? You've already got the vid. Uploading it doesn't help you, it just hurts the producer.

Guess I'll have to wait around for the normal release of this one. I was waiting, due to the more lax member purchase timeframe on this one, and of course it bit me in the ass.

Either way, Blue, you do what you fell you've got to do.

The offender has been tracked down and banned for life from my server, which includes all of my stores and this forum.

As for why some pirates do it, this one was actually re-selling my videos on a pirate site. The videos are being taken down, so too bad for the members who paid for a monthly membership on a pirate site that won't last a month... but I won't shed one single tear for them, because they are as bad as the idiot who posted them, trying to profit off of my hard work and financial investment in producing these videos!

Sometimes I really wonder why I continue to beat my head against the wall and film these videos. I make nothing from it, and my line of credit just keeps getting higher. The membership solution had the possibility of being a win-win for customers and producer alike, but without the club it may not make sense to continue after the already scheduled November shoot.

I had Blue remove me from the club a few weeks ago because of lack of continued interest on my part. For everyone else's sake, I'm sorry to read what happened, but I'm not surprised that it did, given how rampant piracy is. The marketing strategy was clever, but with 100 members, someone was bound to think they could get lost among the crowd and likely never be discovered.

I've often fantasized about becoming a producer, but after reading Blue's account of what happened, I'm gonna stick with commissioning work with other producers. I'd rather not risk dealing with the frustration Blue is understandably experiencing right now. It would piss me off to learn someone else was profiting off of my hard work.

I suggest to BLue that each and every superhero movie he sold or sent out have it's own unique bar-code electronic 'tag' which could be easily identified if the movie ever came up on a site that it wasn't supposed to - I don't know how easy or cheap this was to do but it seemed at least a sure-fire way to identify who was leaking/selling Blue's movies.

I still can't believe this has happened - I honeslty though we were starting to get a good head of steam up with Blue's Superheroine series and a firm, dedicated fan-base. It was a minor accomplishment that we actually managed to get a 100 people signed up for it, through a lot of hard selling and making everyone in the fetish-industry aware of what BLue & Mr B were doing.

Blue, I'm so sorry to hear that this happened. Piracy makes me so angry...it is just rampant greed, and stupidity on the part of anyone in our community who feeds that greed.

If you want to let me know the identity/IP address of the person who sold your video to a pirate, I will make sure they are banned from FetNoir as well.

I know that you've already publicly stated the dissolution of the BSC given the conditions you laid out prior to its establishment, but I would be remissed if I didn't make a plea for its preservation. If you've already taken action against the suspected member who is responsible for the leak, I'm not sure how punishing the remaining membership works towards any sort of resolution with a positive outcome. Regardless of your decision, I will continue to support Bluestone Productions whenever and however I can.

The termination of the club is not a punishment of the other club members, it's an acknowledgement of the failure of a system that was put in place to keep our videos out of the hands of the pirates, at least until we could sell 100 videos, which is by no means enough to break even, but a good start at it. No doubt because of the pirate, and perhaps other file-sharers in the club who have yet to be caught, sales of some of the member releases, including "Dark Wondra 3", ended up stalling at about 50 sales. So, with club sales down and at least one member turning out to be a soulless viper, we felt that we had no alternative other than to terminate the BSC membership club. We had declared from the start that if the membership system became tainted by piracy, it would be terminated.

Hopefully, the pirates will not completely destroy this industry, but they are doing their best to frustrate producers and customers alike.

The Melody video is still on, but member input will no longer be requested. We will take note of what is posted on the forums together with our knowledge of what the fans want to see.
