I personally prefer it hwen they are more tied up and helpless, but perhaps that's just me...

Well, I think it's because you get to see the whole girl without part of her being covered or obscured by the killer, such as with a straddle strangle. Having her elevated on a table also provides many more camera angles than if she was lying on the floor. Of course, the breast jiggle is also another good reason for this position.

To me there is nothing better than a long neck stretched back with a cord wrapped tight around it, with the heroine's faces twisted in pain trying to breath.
