Been over at DS...

Hey Gang,

I've been over at DeadSkirts recently and joined in some discussions, but I really noticed a hostile and negative vibe from a lot of the posters over there, and not just the big fish himself. Is it just my imagination, or have other members had the same feeling? It really turned me off. Granted, there are in depth discussions similar to what we have here, but there is also a tone of uncivility and sniping, notwithstanding the 666 Rules that are supposed to prevent such behaviour.

I think I'm going to be more of a homebuddy from now on. I find it so nice and civil here in comparison.

I have been watching the board (don't tell Him - I stop by once in awhile) and I think as time has gone by this is true - wasn't that way a year or so ago ( when I quit posting)
There are some good people there, but I think they have become frustrated with the way things are "handled" there, and thus, the attitude.

We need to maintain the "good vibes" we have here and not let the conditions there affect us here.

Yes, Blue, I've noticed it, too. That place has changed a lot. And it's not just Geno -- there are certain characters who try to dominate, post a lot, and generally bring down the place.

I've been doing my 'lurker' thing at DS as well. It seems that some of the topics have taken nasty turns, especially when a certain someone has made their presence known. But for the most part it seems OK. I like looking at the Producer-related threads to learn more about the DS rule violations, especially when the particular rule and it's number are pasted into the replies(scolds). That's Entertainment!!

I never understand all the hostility. We are a unique bunch of people with a common bond that is sensitive to say the least. There seems to be a self destruct streak among many.
I am grateful there are producers out there prepared to make the sort of movies that live out our fantasies.

You're right, of course, on both counts, i.e. getting along, and tit shots in white blouses and short skirts

I've been around the boards for years, and I don't think it was always such a hostile environment on the other boards. I think if everyone checked their egos at the door, and just visited the boards to share thoughts, information and ideas with one another, all of the boards would be more of a community. I like to think of FF as a small town environment where everyone has a common bond and a desire to get along for the common good. Perhaps the larger a message board gets, the more it becomes a colder environment... a less friendly big city environment, as opposed to a small town atmosphere.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the subject? Is smaller better?

Well, *sigh, having just had to weather yet another (semi annual) brough ha ha from one individual at the "bigger board", the "small town" atmosphere is mighty welcome.

Blue, I don't know how long you have been around the community. But, when NB first started their board it was like a small community and most folks there were very happy just knowing that there were "others like them" in the world. Perhaps it was a product of growth and "crowding" {like the famous rat experiment} or perhaps there are just a bunch of mean spirited people attracted to the subject. Don't pretend to know the answer, but from the experience of actually meeting people from the community (quite a few), I don't think that's the case. One factor may be the "anonymous bully syndrome". Hiding behind a handle, some of these individuals can become the "800 pound gorilla" of their fantasy lives when in real life they may be Walter Mitty's

Yes, Hank, I think you have a valid point there. Now there are positives and negatives to each approach, i.e. a board operated by producers, or a board operated by non-producers. Believe me, I know, because I have to constantly try to see things from all angles... from that of the producers, the customers, the reviewers, etc.

I think the biggest challenge for a board like FF, and a challenge that doesn't exist at DS, is to make sure that it doesn't just become a marketing ploy for one producer, or even a group of producers. This was what, I.M.H.O., killed Femmegore, when Dlister and G-Man decided that it should be restricted to paying customers of FG and used as a marketing forum for AF. Now, don't get me wrong, I respect and am on good terms with both G-Man and Dlister, but I never agreed with this approach. Luckily, I am not a full-time producer, so I don't depend on sales from Silk Videos to pay my mortgage. Therefore, there is no real temptation to repeat the errors of yesteryear.

I firmly believe that having 50 message boards, one for each producer who wants to receive feedback from his customers, is not the best way to go. Having a few community message boards (right now there are 3 major ones) that allow the general community of producers and customers to interact, is the way to go. However, those message boards should for the most part be for the community, not just an advertsing or promotional tool, and not a board that is so negative in its focus as to kill, as opposed to, promote a close community spirit amongst like-minded individuals who need a place to interact where they and their fetish are accepted and respected. I don't think that's too much to ask for or expect from a board such as FF. So, that is the goal that I will consistently be striving towards.

I was around in the old days of NB and Vickys early stuff which, at the time was revolutionary. Then the amazing Dr Don. I don't remember any negative stuff at all. Then Annabelle, before you guys came along and raised the bar even further.
I am a "live and let live" kinda guy. As long as I get a reasonable selection of clothed frontal shootings i'm happy-thanks. By the way, left tit, heart shots, not nipples, and no pleats.They are too school girly for me.

I have been following the "Liar, Liar" thread now for a couple of days, having been on the receiving end of some contra-producer attacks from El Geno, and others on his site. Some months ago he made a rule that it was ok for members to trash any producer they want, in any terms they want, but producers were prohibited from defending themselves.

It is most interesting to note, that I have not seen any mention of this "dirty little (flame) war" on the other site. I haven't looked at the all topic forum, but the Fantasy Female Death board has not had mention of it that I could find. I'm curious as to why?

Anyway, lets hear it for the return of peace, tranquility, and return of hearing lost in the conflagration of the flame wars.

Yes, Hank, it should be quieter and more civil over here in the future. As for DS, it continues to flame. No mention of the FF flame war over there that I can see. I guess they're too busy with the flaming of producers over there to notice a little flame war over here

Well, NP, it's entirely up to him. It is his board, after all. If we are declared a rival board, then I'll have to ask for a definition of 'rival board' so that I can properly follow the rules. I bet we have to trash DS at every opportunity, or something like that. Well, I'm sure we'll receive a Rival Board Charter... suitable for framing! It should be included in there. I hope we can live up to it though, since we really aren't the nasty type over here. Do you think we'll have to cuss and swagger, or tattoo anti-DS phrases on our shaved heads? I'm really at a loss to understand what's going to be expected of us. I guess I'll have to form a war cabinet and make plans to drop seals behind DS enemy lines... and I do mean seals... you know, those cute baby seals that are featured in the documentaries all of the time? Bother! What to do, what to do???
