I am primarily known nowadays as a video producer, producing under the name Catharsis, but my involvement with this community virtually predates the Web. I started out on line back in 1994/95 by posting stories to the Usenet newsgroups. The stories proved popular and generated a lot of Emails. However posts to the Usenet do not last long, within weeks disappearing. I got tired of the constant deluge of requests to repost old stories and finally put together a web site to host them permanently. Mine was the first of the web sites to be originally hosted by Blackplague back in 1996.
I had dabbled with drawing for a little while, actually discovering that I have a bit of talent for it, but it took me twenty times as long as it took a pro to get similar results and never practiced it enough to really get 'good' at it. But the bit of fetish art I did create got scanned and included on that first web site. Thus was born; '
Peter's Art and Stories'. Within a couple of weeks, several other similar web sites launched on Blackplague, notably Vicki's 'Necrobabe Homepage' where a great many video captures from TV and movies were shared. All was good, and everyone linked to one another in a marvelously incestuous relationship.

But the day came when the two sites that consumed the most bandwidth on Blackplague finally got billed for that bandwidth. Both Vicky and myself received bills for several hundred dollars a month to cover the cost of our free web sites. Immediately Vicki and I were on the phone together to figure out what we could do. Obviously neither of us were prepared to spend several hundred dollars per month to maintain free web sites. We figured we could choose between one of three options. We could take down our sites; which we did not wish to do as were were by then the nexus of a small but rapidly growing community that we much cared for. We could instead charge a membership fee for our web sites; which we also did not want to do because those sites were already free, and putting them behind a membership screen would risk harming the community that was burgeoning. Lastly we could open a brand new site, make that one a membership site, charge a fee for access to that site and hopefully make enough money with it to cover the bandwidth cost of that new site, as well as Vicki's and my free sites.
We calculated that if we sold one hundred memberships, we could cover bandwidth costs. Our wildest hope however was that we would sell three hundred memberships as that would generate sufficient revenue to cover the cost of paying a photographer to create a custom photoset just for us once a week. Vicki and I had a few contacts with various photographers and they all contributed some material for the initial launch of the site. I went to work building the first incarnation of the site, and thus was born the 'Necrobabes' member site. Our hopes were greatly exceeded when we not only got three hundred members the first month, but another three hundred the next, with still more to come.

Fairly soon thereafter Blackplague got censored by their server hosts and all the Blackplague hosted sites disappeared, including for a couple of days, Necrobabes. By that point however we had a cash flow and were in a position to rapidly acquire a dedicated host. We decided that given that the original raison d'etre of Necrobabes was to cover the hosting of our free sites, it was in keeping with that spirit to offer free hosting to most of the other free sites that had been hosted on Blackplague, and thus was born '
Necrobabes.org' which to this day continues to host free sites.
I'll digress just a bit to toot my own horn, but I think I largely invented the concept of the photo story for the web. Of course photo comics existed prior to that, so it wasn't much of a creative leap, but photostories are virtually unique to our community, one does not find then anywhere else on the web to my knowledge, but in our community they are everywhere. Necrobabes started out with the intention of always having story texts to go with the photos to create more context and increase the artistry of the endeavor, and for many years we stuck to that paradigm (thank you Max5s).

We discovered we had a tiger by the tail however as the site grew, spun off several sister sites and the work involved grew to being a full time job. Quite by accident I found myself with a full time occupation at first just handling photo processing, story text writing, html, etc.. But within the first year, I also started creating photo sets for the sites.
The technology of the Web improved and video came more and more to predominate over photo sets. Necrobabes was a little slow to respond to this beyond opening up the Necrobabes PPV site to sell individual videos. For several years Necrobabes continued to host only photosets on the member sites, while people were gradually coming more to expect video from member sites. It was myself who ultimately took the initiative to start to post videos instead of photosets on the Necrobabes sites, by the simple expedient of creating them myself. I had to learn to produce them quickly and cheaply as the budget I had for any given video would be considered very small by all the independent producers, and I was being called upon to produce fifteen videos a week!

By the time Necrobabes fell apart (which is a whole other story), I had produced nearly one thousand videos. This turned out to be my savior as continued sales of those videos have allowed me to stay professionally involved in producing, albeit at a much greatly reduced pace. In addition to selling access to my repertoire of videos on
The Progressive Art Project and
Nicheclips, I also have my own member site which features a rotating archive of my older work as well as my newest,
Catharsis Erotica.
That's my story. I do still very occasionally write stories (a couple times a year maybe) but mostly my sharing beyond the for pay videos, is that of posting selections of photos I've taken over the years. I have for instance a gallery thread of several hundred such photos on several message boards. I also fairly regularly create reduced resolution, often shortened, versions of some of my videos to share with people for free. Check out for example this
Gladiatrix Fight Scene demo we did. Also Catharsis Erotica has no less than
five, completely free, full resolution videos that are given away to show people what our videos are like. The only difference between those free videos and the ones I sell is that the for sale videos invariably contain explicit nudity, while the free videos have the ladies wearing lingerie.
