Should We Post Pirates' Names!!!

In order to cut down on piracy, what about simply publishing pirates usual usernames and email addresses on this thread? I have a name or two that I can post, and I'm sure that the other producers do too. When I discover that a member or customer is sharing my material, I ban them from my sites permanently. Perhaps, he'll just move on and start to buy and share another producer's work. What if I also shared that information with other producers? Shouldn't such a pirate be banned from all producers' sites? What does everyone think of this idea?

I don't think so. My view is that response would not have the productive effect sought. I feel that those who support us will and in many cases, they have come to our aid in the places that count. Karma will sort it all out. I just want to worry about making good movies as I am sure all the producers work very hard to do. It is my hope that those who truly enjoy our material will respect that and support us.

Here is a secondary thought for discussion purposes:
What if producers shared a list of people that they have banned as pirates on their sites with other producers. Then, at least, a known pirate can be banned from all producers sites instead of just one producer's site. This can be done in secret, so that only the pirates will know it is happening, when they are suddenly banned from every site they try to purchase from for their file-sharing purposes.
Thoughts?

Blue,
These people and other problem members (as chargebacks) are posted to the 'Pay Site Webmasters Forum' and have been for years.
You haven't posted there for some time, if you are having problems getting on or lost your access codes please email or PM.

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for that information. I wasn't aware of that, since I have been too busy with my various responsibilities here, on Silk Videos, and in real life, to visit the forum for several months. I apologize for this. I will check out the information available there, and contribute what I can to this group so that we can continue to defend our producers in this industry. Thanks for all that you do to support other webmasters in the industry. It is much appreciated.

A good idea which I would support, gentlemen; however, anyone can get a different e mail address in minutes, so all that is likely to happen is that the pirates use a "different" identity.

Pirates are hurting all of us.
What is worse is the disrespect that they show to loyal repeat customers.
I am in favor of any effort to stop file sharing but I think it needs to be kept in confidence between webmasters and producers.

Va bene.

Let me clarify.
I am against posting names and emails publicly. I am not saying, I don't do anything about it. An open forum is really not a place to discuss methods and sources since a clip MUST be purchased at least once for it to be pirated, so, in all likelihood there are eyes on this very forum.
If producers want to discuss this, I suggest the webmasters forum where, I can give you my thoughts and ideas on this in long form. Or, email me.
Thanks,
JohnM

I'm not a producer so: I don't know exactly what this plan would accomplish.
I have quite a few works from producers that I have been fortunate enough to get for free.
NOT by way of someone else pirating those, only through honest freebeez, like the free memberships from Dennis months ago.
I keep those on my file storage sight as private files, not for public sharing.
I certainly wouldn't want to feel like I was being "targeted", "put on a list" or even "discussed on a private board" for having these videos. I'm not about to go and let anyone have access to these. Yet: how am I to know, let alone prevent someone from hacking my account and sharing these files? How would I prevent, should something like a hacking occur, these files from being traced back to me?
Admittedly, I'm not as technosavvy as some. I just wouldn't want to have to prove myself as not guilty, should this scenario happen.
I am taking a wider view of the bigger picture, that's all.

Doh!
I had meant to send tOkie a PM, but posted it to this thread by accident instead. Sorry.

Jeffrey,
I wouldn't worry about videos hacked from your computer showing up on pirate boards and being traced back to you. Pirates and those downloading pirated videos leave their footprints on the Internet... the video clips themselves do not

I dont think the producers are bothered too much about freebees being posted on other sites, its the pay to view stuff, and the newer stuff that some how has to be protected i agree name and shame, if they change there user names and e-mails no matter they will pop up once again with a new one to name and shame. Something has to be done.
