I have been exploring the Deadly Desires board and found that attachment(images) have caused them a definite spot of bother. I should have realized how demanding image files could be in terms of storage issues, bandwidth and so on. This board does not seem to currently have such issues, but could that change? The only option then for image share would be upload to some site like maybe mediafire and then providing a link to such images, as was done in the McQuade gallery.

The only issue of hosting elsewhere would be that your images then become subject to the whim of those other hosting sites, to the point that I've seen a lot of older posts not have their pics attached any more or have dead links because mediafire deleted them.

So unless there was someone with the money who was willing to start up a hosting company that would discreetly host the sort of pics our community generates without the fear of getting them deleted, I wouldn't trust most external sites to keep our stuff available forever.

Yes, I pretty much agree with you. I'd hate to deal with an image host. They have a tendency to label certain things as objectionable and delete them and even ban people. It's a real problem. I don't know how Bluestone does it, but I'm happy that he's been able to keep so much that has been posted here over the years.
