2 – Horror Hotel (1960)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053719/

Alfred Hitchcock, Norman Bates and Janet Leigh in the shower! What more do you need to know!

6 – The Haunting (1963)

I think this is the best haunted house movie ever made and you don’t see one ghost or monster! Masterfully directed by Robert Wise. Remade as “The Legend Of Hell House”, another good one!

7- Halloween (1978)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077651/

The movie that made Michael Meyers a household name! Carpenter did for Halloween what Hitchcock did for showers! What a simple and memorable musical theme as well!

8 – Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1956))

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077681/
Wes Craven’s pulse pounding tale of one family fighting for survival in the desert against a deranged, feral family of murderers and cannibals. When I first saw this in the movies back in the day, people were screaming at the screen!

13 – The Exorcist (1973)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070047/
THE great tale of demonic possession…Often imitated, but never duplicated! The last battle between the priests and the demon will have you biting your nails down to the nubs! “The power of Christ compels you!”

Honorable mention:
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

…But only if you can catch it at a midnight showing with the full audience participation effect! “Come up to the lab and see what’s on the slab!”

I agree with most of your list. However, I would like to add Forbidden Planet to the list. It was a very intelligent as well as scary piece of Sci-Fi.

The Thing really creeped me out and still gives me goose bumps to this day. I was only six or so when I seen it in the moviews, and I still don't wish to watch it alone.

I think it's a great list. Especially because it contains the much-preferred
original versions of some of my all-time faves, "Psycho," "Invasion of the
Body Snatchers," "The Thing From Another World" and the aforementioned
"Horror Hotel."

I agree about the audience participation aspect of "The Rocky Horror Picture
Show," but I think It's still fun when watched accompanied only by a bowl of
popcorn. "Come up to the lab, and see what's on the slab." "And let's do the
time warp again!"
