Shutting Down My Review Blog

It's only been a week since I started my blog, but I was recently reminded why I stopped writing reviews in the first place.
Late last week, I bought a clip that I would've easily scored a 1 out of 5 for technical inconsistency and overall production quality, but still satisfied my fetish for the one scene I bought it for. Problem is, I've spent the last few days trying to figure out how to write a comprehensive review without letting my personal bias for just a few minutes of the clip interfere with offering an honest critique about the entire video. I can't do it. And I do not want to unduly risk the producer losing any sales. I also went through some older videos in my collection, and found several from other producers that I would've trashed if I'd reviewed them, but they still managed to satisfy my fetish to some degree, despite their numerous flaws.
Bottom line, I don't know how to be impartial, especially when only a small fraction of a video does work for me while the rest of it doesn't. So, I've shut down my blog and, going forward, will simply e-mail producers with any negative feedback I might have.

Reviews are not supposed to be impartial. They are opinions. Your review blog is a great idea. And, you clearly state your level of fetish pickiness. I am sure, most who read the blog will take from it the aspects they want, knowing that what you like, and what your standards are might be different from them.
For instance, I often read various Netflix reviews. Sometimes the 1-2 star review do as much for selling the movie to me as they might detour. It is all subjective and it is a great service to the community.
Having a blog where you can dish freely about a movie is ideal. No producer can whine about that and should appreciate that you are even making the attempt to support them.
I think you should keep doing it. I would love to review some of a ba-zillion movies I have bought over the years, but I fear MY review would be considered bias.
Please, reconsider.

I entirely agree with John M!
Keep your blog up, and state your opinions on the videos that you wish to review. Producers either have thick enough skins to take thoughtful criticism, or shouldn't be in this business at all! Some of my most prized feedback is from fans who know that they can talk freely with me about what didn't do it for them.
On a side note, don't worry about costing producers sales. Like John said, sometimes a negative review will inspire someone who has a different focus to purchase the video that the reviewer didn't like. Nyghtfall, remember the video that I did for you, "The Newlywed Killer"? You seemed satisfied with the result and you are a very picky asphyxia fan, but it didn't sell well at all. So, who knows what's going to sell and what isn't?
All I can say is that your experience and eye for detail in this genre is very well respected, and you should definitely continue with your blog, or at least post some reviews somewhere. They are appreciated by customers and producers alike... yes, even the negative ones.

Agree with the others Nyghtfall. Sorree...
Your blog by it's definition is your own opinion. And you are not the only person who has brought an otherwise trashy movie or DVD just for one scene that satisfies your particular fetish...

Thank you all, very much for your input. I appreciate the support. You made some excellent points that I failed to consider. I will definitely continue my blog.
Unfortunitely, I already deleted it this morning, but can easily re-install it once I return home from work this evening.

My blog is back online, but I need to re-write my review of Girlfriends by Truly Rough Productions. I didn't have a backup of it. I'll also include the link to the free re-edit the producer posted in response to my original review. And then I'll get started on my review of the clip that prompted me to shut my blog down in the first place.
