Review for SLA's Juana Rubio: Troubleshooter

This is my extended review for “Juana Rubio: Troubleshooter.”

SPOILER ALERT! There may be a few (hopefully minor,) spoilers in this review.

Brief Synopsis, to start.
Marya Martinez is the owner if a video production company, whose computers have been hacked. She hires Juana Rubio to ‘punish’ the hacker. But, in order to hide her involvement in the punishment, she gives Juana Rubio nine different names of hackers and scammers for her to punish. Juana accepts the job and doles out her brand of punishment.
If it is not obvious, the inspiration for this storyline comes from a certain video producer whose computers were hacked. I considerate this story a bit of proxy revenge. In addition, who doesn’t hate hackers and scammers and wish somebody would ‘punish’ them!

A few words about the title:
I wanted to use ‘Troubleshooter’ as part of the title in order to use the pun: “I have some troubles for you to shoot.”
The problem with this is that the dialogue will be in Spanish, (with this particular producer, with English subtitles.) So I had to make this pun work in both languages.
So I searched around and found the Spanish word “Apagafuegos.” This is a compound words from two Spanish words: “Apaga,” which means “He puts out,” or “He extinguishes,” and “Fuegos,” which means “fires.” This word is (occasionally) used much in the same way as the English word ‘Troubleshooter.’
Troubleshooter: He shoots trouble.
Apagafuegos: He puts out fires. (El apaga fuegos.)
So I found a pun which will work in both languages. The next step is convincing SLA to use the pun. They left it out in an early version of their script, submitted to me for my approval. (Their script was in Spanish.) Note: I wrote the original script in English. But below each line of dialogue, I wrote the Spanish translation. (Yes, I speak Spanish. One reason I use SLA for my custom videos.) They sometimes use my translation, sometimes they use theirs. In the end, they consented the use the pun.
However, when Marya says she has “some troubles to shoot.” In Spanish she uses the word “incendios que apagar.” Instead of “fuegos que apagar.” “Incendios is another word for ‘fires.’ So they still did not quite use the pun as I wrote it.
This is nit-picking, I know.

On with the review:
Music: I have no musical taste or talent. So I asked SLA to choose the background music. They did an excellent job.
One excellent point: In some scenes, as Juana Rubio is sulking about, about to ponce on her prey, there is a sort of drumbeat that sounds reminiscent of a human heartbeat. In one particular scene as Juana is murdering one of her victims, this heartbeat drum sound is the background music. The drumbeat comes to an abrupt halt as the victim dies. Sort of like her heart stopped! Loved it!

Titles: I asked that as each scammer/hacker first appeared on screen, that the scene would freeze for a moment and her name would appear. This to help further the illusion that there are more than three actresses playing nine roles. Also, adding her name, (and crime,) makes her more than some random victim. It adds to personality.
As each criminal appears on screen, the scene freezes as requested. But then they posterized the frozen scene, as well as titling the criminal’s name and scam. I thought this was above and beyond my request and a nice effect as well.

Special effects:
Some nice shooting effects. I especially want to mention one shooting in particular. The weapon discharging, (multiple times,) is a visual effect. A good visual effect in itself. But each time the gun would fire, the wound would simultaneously appear on the bare flesh of the victim. (No cutting away to add the blood make-up, as is often done.) I thought this was an extra-special well-done visual effect.
In one murder scene, the victim is laying dead. And smoke rolls out of her open mouth. Not only a fun special effect, but well done as well. (Guess how she died.)
I love it when women are run through with a sword and I requested this in one scene. The special effects in this scene were so well done. You could visually see the sword emerging from her back, blood spurting. And a spurt of blood as it is withdrawn from her body. I never imagined they could pull off this level of special effect.

Sound effects:
The sound effects added during the sword fight were excellent! Swords clanging.

Costumes:
I like certain costumes I find sexy, fetish costumes, cosplay costumes. So I asked for them. With the excuse that it would add variety and help distinguish the different characters played by the same actress. It’s a valid excuse. SLA came up with some sexy costumes.
I really want to call out Juan Rubio’s catsuit. (This is a hold-over costume from the first Juan Rubio video.) While doing her dirty work, I though Juana Rubio should be dressed in a catsuit, (and black mask, to hide her identity.) Now this is going to sound sexist. Because it is! I love the low-cut neck line, the really low-cut neckline in Juana’s catsuit. It really shows off Yuri/Juana’s breasts! Mighty fine breasts, Yuri!

A bit of dialogue:
‘Juana Rubio’ loosely translates to English as ‘Jane Blond.’ A subtle call back to James Bond. When Juana Rubio introduces herself to Marya Martinez, she says: “Rubio. Juana Rubio.” A call back to various James Bond scenes when he introduces himself as: “Bond, Jame Bond.”
I didn’t write it that way and I think it is an excellent call back. One case where SLA’s rewrite was so much better than my script.

Calling out one actress:
I want to make a special mention of Catalina’s acting. SLA’s actresses are all much better actresses than your standard fare death fetish actress.
But I want to call out Catalina in one scene in particular. Catalina is playing a telephone scammer. This scammer is using the grandparent/grandchild in Jail scam. In which the scammer calls an elderly person and claims to be a grandchild. (Hoping that the grandparent is elderly enough not to recognize that the caller is not a grandchild.) They then inform the grandparent that they are in jail and the grandparent needs to send money to bail them out.
Catalina was so convincing in her pleading to the grandmother on the other end of the phone. She in deed sounded like a granddaughter in trouble and therefore played a scammer very convincingly.

Lastly: I asked that at the end of the video, that there be a scene of each dead woman’s corpse in repose. So, at the end of the movie, we are treated to long, lingering scenes of each woman’s dead body in its eternal repose.

A few nit-picking things I didn’t like:
In the opening scene: Marya pronounces one statement as a question instead of a statement. Luckily, this doesn’t translate in the subtitles.
In two places the subtitles were wrong. In one scene the same subtitle is used twice. The victim says something, but instead of translating her words, the subtitle is Juana’s response to her. Juana then responds, and the same subtitle appears again, (in the correct place.)
In the same scene, there is a subtitle that has nothing to do with what the actress said in Spanish. It appears to me that SLA was trying to add in an additional joke, but ran out of time. So they never added in the English subtitle for what the actress really said in Spanish.

Blood make-up. I don’t like gallons and gallons of blood. I think blood-drenched corpses obscure the dead woman’s beauty. I want the dead woman to appear beautiful, even in deathly repose. So I asked for a minimum use of blood make-up.
In one case the actress has a stomach wound, on bare skin. She is clutching at her wound as she is in her death throes. And she wipes away all the blood and wound make-up. After she is dead, the make-up has been reapplied.
In another death scene, there is no blood on the victim’s blouse. They took my request too far. (At least they don’t have blood stains to wash out of the blouse.) I even asked for a white blouse, as the red blood stain makes a nice contrast on the white fabric.

In a particular gunfight scene: The scammer and Juana have a gunfight. The bad girl runs out of bullets and surrenders. Juana almost runs out of bullets. This is important for the next scene. But in the gunfight Juana doesn’t fire her pistol at all. While this scene is a humorous call-back to a famous scene in another movie, and still works; the fact that Juana doesn’t fire her weapon makes no sense in the following scene where it is important that she is almost out of bullets.
In the next scene Juana knows she is almost out of bullets, but for no shown reason.

Author’s questions:
Knowing that some viewers like scenes where a female killer will rob something from her female victim, for personal use. I requested one scene where Juana Rubio would steal something, (I left it unspecified,) and requested that she be seen wearing the item in the final scene. Instead, in many scenes Juana is seen stealing, (mainly jewelry,) from her victims. And pauses to put it on.
So my question is this:
Is this too much? Or the more items stolen the better?

Second question is more personal:
I have confused the actresses Joshie and Monika a couple of time. Joshie appears in this video. Monika does not.
In a couple of previous videos, in which Monika has appeared, from certain angles she reminds me so much of my ex-wife. I can’t remember if I requested Monika for this video or not, but have requested her for the next Juana Rubio video.
Am I a wierdo for enjoying scenes where an actress that sometimes reminds me of my ex-wife gets sexily shot dead?

I have written a third Juana Rubio script. I submitted it to SLA about two months ago, while they were still experiencing some difficulties. I wanted to show some support, and possible financial support, in case no one else was submitting custom scripts. However, they informed me there were still receiving custom scripts and that there were at least four scripts in the pipeline ahead of mine. I believe they have only released one video since then.
I haven't pestered them with questions since then; but I may soon. I do want to have the third script produced so that there is a Juana Rubio trilogy. I posted this review partially in hopes of boosting sales for this video.
